Boys Team Tennis State Championship Finalists Determined

AURORA - The Boys Tennis Team State Championship remained upset free Tuesday night as Regis Jesuit, Cherry Creek, Kent Denver and Colorado Academy all won their matches to set up a No. 1 vs. No. 2 championship in both the 4A and 5A tournaments.

The thrill of the afternoon came at Cherry Creek, as the championship rematch between last year’s state finalists – Cherry Creek and Valor Christian - came down to the No. 2 doubles match. Second-seeded Creek prevailed in the third set to secure a thrilling 4-3 victory and a place in the 5A state championship for a second-straight year.

There, the Bruins will face top-seeded Regis Jesuit, which defeated No. 4 seed Fossil Ridge, 6-1, in tonight’s semifinals. Regis Jesuit will be making its first appearance in the finals of the new dual team style tournament.

In the 4A bracket, top-seeded Kent Denver prevailed over No. 4 Denver South, 5-2, and second-seeded Colorado Academy defeated No. 3 Evergreen, 6-1, to advance. Kent Denver, the 2022 state champion, and Colorado Academy will meet in the 4A state championship match. This will be Colorado Academy’s first appearance in the finals of the dual team style tournament.

The 4A and 5A Boys Tennis Team State Championships will take place Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Denver Tennis Park. The 5A match will begin at 11:45 a.m., with the 4A match starting at 2 p.m.
