AURORA - The top seeds prevailed in the first round of both the 4A and 5A bracket for the Boys Tennis Dual Team State Championship Wednesday afternoon. The winners will all advance to the quarterfinal round, with matches being played at the home site of the higher-seeded team on Friday. Start times can be found on the brackets once they're available.
The semifinals of the dual team bracket will also be played at home sites, on Tuesday, Oct. 10, with the finals set for a neutral site on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
In the 5A bracket, Regis Jesuit was the first team to secure a spot in the quarterfinals, sweeping No. 16 seed Fruita Monument in the first match of the day. The Raiders will face No. 8 Chaparral in the second round, as the Wolverines also swept their competition, defeating No. 9 Rocky Mountain, 7-0.
Second-seeded Cherry Creek knocked out No. 15 seed Centaurus, 7-0, and will advance to face No. 7 Arapahoe in the quarterfinals. The Warriors earned a 5-2 win over No. 10 Ponderosa.
No. 3 Valor Christian used a 7-0 win over No. 14 Boulder to set up a match-up against No. 6 seed Fairview, as Fairview downed No. 14 Denver East, 6-1.
No. 4 Fossil Ridge downed No. 13 Mountain Vista, 6-1, and No. 5 Ralston Valley defeated No. 12 Castle View, 5-2. Fossil Ridge will host Ralston Valley in the quarterfinals.

In the 4A bracket, top-seeded Kent Denver recorded a 6-1 win over No. 16 Peak to Peak to advance, while No. 8 Coronado defeated No. 9 Palmer Ridge, 6-1, to move on. Kent Denver and Coronado will face in the quarterfinals.
No. 2 Colorado Academy swept No. 15 Golden, 7-0, and will advance to face No. 7 Niwot. The Cougars downed No. 10 George Washington, 5-2, to claim a spot in the quarterfinal round.
No. 3 Evergreen defeated No. 14 Discovery Canyon, 6-1, and will next host No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain, as the Red-Tailed Hawks earned a 6-1 victory over No. 11 Thomas Jefferson.
No. 4 Denver South picked up a 6-1 win over No. 13 Grand Junction, while No. 5 D’Evelyn earned a 6-1 victory over No. 12 Mullen. Denver South will next host D’Evelyn in the quarterfinal round.
