The 2023 Colorado high school boys team tennis state championships will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The higher-seeded team(s) will host during the dual team championships through the semifinals, with the first round taking place on Wednesday, Sept. 27, the quarterfinals on Friday, Sept. 29 and the semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The finals will be held at Denver Tennis Park on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
What time are the championship matches?
All match times will be on the brackets. For the state championship finals, introductions for the 5A match will be at 11:30 a.m., with play beginning at 11:45 a.m. The 4A match will follow with introductions taking place at 1:45 p.m. and play beginning at 2 p.m.
How do teams qualify for the state championships?
The Tennis Committee will use any and all criteria to seed teams: UTR, strength of league, overall record, strength of competition, score, head-to-head competition and common opponents.
Where will matches be played?
The higher-seeded team(s) will host the dual team championships through the semifinals. The finals will be held at a neutral site; Denver Tennis Park.

What is the format of the competition?
The 16-team tournament will be a single-elimination bracket. Each match will consist of a full two out of three tiebreak sets, with a full third set being played if the first two sets are split.
In addition, this year’s tournament will be played to completion for the first three rounds, and ‘played to clinch,’ for the final round. Playing to clinch means all individual matches will conclude at the point that the dual is clinched (first team to win four matches).
If we can't make it to the matches, can we watch live?
Denver Tennis Park will provide
a free, live video of the finals. There will not be score on the screen or an announcer, but all seven courts will be available to watch.

Do I need to buy a ticket to enter?
No. Tickets and entry fee aren’t required for the tennis state championships.
Will there be a trophy presentation?
A team trophy will be awarded to the championship team and the second-place team immediately following the conclusion of play.
What happens in the case of rain, or bad weather?
In case of bad weather, the tournament committee will put together a plan to get the championships completed as efficiently and fairly as possible for all participants and schools involved. Please be prepared for any contingency plans including but not limited to shortened formats, playing indoors, playing at multiple sites, etc.
