AURORA -- The Colorado High School Activities Association would like to congratulate its membership for another successful calendar year in 2025.
CHSAA crowned 128 team champions across its 34 sports and activities, with 78 different schools claiming at least one title and 28 schools winning multiple championships, led by Cherry Creek with seven and Niwot and The Classical Academy with five each.
Meanwhile, the Wellington football team, the Loveland Classical girls soccer team, the Regis Groff boys volleyball team, and the Rocky Mountain Prep RISE speech & debate team took home the first-ever state titles for their respective schools. (The former Wellington High School, closed in the 1960s, had previously won state championships, this school opened in 2022.)

In music, the inaugural state champions were Canon City (show choir), Cheyenne Mountain (A capella) and Grandview (jazz).
In wrestling, Pueblo Central won the inaugural 4A girls championship and Grand Junction Central captured the 5A girls title for the first time. On the boys side, Pomona continued to dominate, winning its 12th title overall and seventh straight in 5A, while Cedaredge won its first title in 2A, Brush won its second championship and first since 2007 in 3A, and Pueblo East won its fourth overall in 4A. Individually, Fowler's Traven Sharon won the 2A title at 126 pounds to become the state's 33rd four-time champion.
In ice hockey, in the 4A state championship, Steamboat Springs won its first-ever ice hockey state title with a 4-2 win over Glenwood Springs. Following the 4A title game, Valor Christian and Poudre School District battled it out for 5A supremacy, with Valor Christian emerging victorious, 7-4. It was the fourth ice hockey state title for the Eagles in the last six years.
For the first time, skiing was split to award state championships in both Alpine and Nordic rather than just one overall title. Aspen won the inaugural Alpine titles for both boys and girls, while the Nordic winners were the Summit boys and the Lake County girls.
In speech & debate, Resurrection Christian repeated as the 3A champion, while winning for the first time were Rocky Mountain Prep RISE in 4A and Denver East in 5A.
In basketball, the boys and girls teams from both Resurrection Christian in 3A and McClave in 1A won state championships. In boys basketball, Windsor in 5A (1924), Simla in 2A (1987) and Kent Denver in 4A (1997) broke long title droughts, while Resurrection Christian in 3A won its second straight title. Eaglecrest (6A) and McClave (1A) rounded out the list of champions with their third state titles. For the girls, Resurrection Christian and University (4A) won their first titles, Grandview (6A) and Merino (2A) made it back-to-back championships, with Mullen (5A) and McClave (1A) completing the championship list.
In girls swimming, Cherry Creek won its 31st title in 5A, Cheyenne Mountain won for the fourth time in 4A and Discovery Canyon won its first championship in 3A. Pine Creek's Madison Mintenko won her fourth individual titles in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, winning at the 5A level after winning both events while competing in 4A the previous three seasons. In boys swimming, Cherry Creek won its 14th state title in 5A, while Monarch won for the first time in 4A.
In boys lacrosse, Dakota Ridge won its program's first title in 4A, while Cherry Creek won its eighth title, and first since 2019, in 5A. In girls lacrosse, Valor Christian won its first title in 5A and Evergreen won for the second straight season, and fourth time overall, in 4A.
In track & field, the boys and girls teams from both Niwot (4A) and The Classical Academy (3A) were state champions. Completing the championship list on the boys side were Cherokee Trail in 5A, Sedgwick County in 2A and Haxtun in 1A. It was Sedgwick County's first state title, and Haxtun's first since 1976, while Cherokee Trail won its third in a row. For the girls, the rest of the winners were Fossil Ridge in 5A, Wiggins in 2A and Idalia and McClave, who shared the 1A title. While Niwot has won six straight girls championships (and nine overall) and The Classical Academy has won 13 crowns, it was the first girls track title for Fossil Ridge, Wiggins, Idalia and McClave.
In baseball, Cherry Creek won its 10th state title in 5A, but breaking through for the first time were Coal Ridge (3A) and Akron (1A), while Golden (4A) won it all for the first time since 2003 and Forge Christian (2A) for the first time since 2016.
In girls golf, Riverdale Ridge (4A) and Holy Family (3A) won their first-ever state championships in the sport, while Valor Christian (5A) and Colorado Academy (2A) extended their traditional strong play -- Valor Christian won its fourth straight title, while Colorado Academy recorded its seventh championship (its first since 2019). In boys golf, Cherokee Trail (5A), Mead (4A) and Frontier Academy (2A) won championships for the first time, while 3A winner Lutheran earned its second title in the sport.
In girls tennis, while Cheyenne Mountain won its 26th championship in 4A, Ralston Valley won for the second straight time in 5A and Peak to Peak captured its third title in 3A. In boys tennis, Regis Jesuit and Cherry Creek met in the 5A dual team finals for a third straight year with Regis Jesuit prevailing for the first time. In 4A, Colorado Academy and Kent Denver also met for a third straight year, with Colorado Academy coming away with its first boys tennis state championship since 2018.
In girls soccer, while traditional powers Colorado Academy in 3A and Evergreen in 4A added to an already-impressive trophy case with a second straight title, Loveland Classical in 2A won its first state championship of any kind, and Fossil Ridge won its first girls soccer state title. In boys soccer, Crested Butte won the 2A title in penalty kicks, while Kent Denver (3A), Mullen (4A) and Regis Jesuit (5A) completed the championship lineup.
In volleyball, the boys were split into two classifications for the first time, with Eaglecrest winning in 5A and Regis Groff grabbing the school's first championship of any kind in 4A. For the girls, Valor Christian won its fourth straight 5A championship, while the other four champions were University in 4A, Eaton in 3A, Simla in 2A and Fleming in 1A. It was Simla's first championship since 1996.
In Esports, in the spring, Smoky Hill won the Unified Esports title, while George Washington captured the Super Smash Bros. championship and Highlands Ranch capped the day by taking home the Mario Kart championship. During the fall championships, Bear Creek started the day with its first-ever Rocket League title, while Cherry Creek captured its second League of Legends title in three years. Mountain Vista capped off the day by becoming the first Esports team to repeat as state champions, claiming a second straight Splatoon title.
In softball, in 5A, Broomfield won its first-ever state championship, while Holy Family won its fifth in 4A and University earned its second in 3A.
The second season of flag football saw Mountain Vista earn its second state title in 5A, with The Classical Academy winning its first in 4A in a state-championship game rematch against Mountain View.
In field hockey, Cherry Creek won its second straight title in a championship-game rematch against Kent Denver.
In cross country, the boys and girls teams from both Niwot (5A) and The Classical Academy (3A) won team championships. The Classical Academy's boys won its 10th title, Golden View Classical Academy won its third straight 2A boys crown and Niwot earned its third straight championship overall, including its second in a row in 5A. Coronado (4A) won its second state title, with the first having come in 2013. On the girls side, The Classical Academy won its state-leading 17th state championship (and third in a row), Niwot won for the seventh time in eight years while capturing its first 5A crown, Timnath won a second straight 4A title and Ridgway earne dts first-ever championship in 2A.
In gymnastics, Broomfield won its fifth title in 5A and Niwot won its eighth in 4A.
In football, the 6-man and 8-man football state champions were determined Nov. 28, at CSU Pueblo's Thunderbowl, with Idalia winning the 6-man title for the first time since 2010 and Haxtun capturing the 8-man championship for a second straight season. Limon kicked off the action on Nov. 29 with its 23rd state title in the 1A championship, then Wellington cruised to the 2A crown. The following Saturday, Dec. 6, at CSU's Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Pomona kicked off the three-game championship day with a last-second field goal to secure a win in 3A, while Dakota Ridge won its first state title in the 4A championship game, and Cherry Creek tied the most points scored in a single 5A championship game to capture its 15th overall state title.
Lakewood became the sixth different state champion in as many seasons of unified bowling.
In spirit, on Dec. 11, Ralston Valley came away with a second straight Game Day Dance State Championship, while Arrupe Jesuit won its third straight 2A/3A Game Day title and Arapahoe captured a Game Day Cheer state title for the first time. On Dec. 12, seven more teams were crowned champions, including one first-time champion, as Resurrection Christian won the 3A All-Girl Cheer competition. Denver Christian won its fifth straight in 2A All-Girl Cheer, while Windsor claimed its second straight at the 4A classification. In 5A, Douglas County captured its first spirit title since 2022 and third All-Girl Cheer championship. All three Co-Ed Cheer champions were repeats from a year ago, with DSST: Cedar winning its second-straight in 2A/3A, Coal Ridge being victorious for the eighth straight year in 4A and in 5A, Castle View winning its third consecutive title. On Dec. 13, five more state championships were awarded. In Hip Hop, Eaglecrest won its fifth straight title and for the sixth time in seven years. In Jazz, Cherokee Trail won its second straight and for the fifth time in seven years. In Poms, the 2A/3A title went to University for the second straight year, while Roosevelt won its fifth straight 4A crown and Rock Canyon was the 5A champion for the third straight year.
