Liberty Common’s Isabel Allori Named Gatorade Girls Track and Field Player of the Year

AURORA –  In its 39th year of honoring the nation’s most elite high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Isabel Allori of Liberty Common High School is the 2023-24 Gatorade Colorado Girls Track & Field Player of the Year. Allori is the first Gatorade Colorado Girls Track & Field Player of the Year to be chosen from Liberty Common High School.

The award, which celebrates the nation’s top high school athletes for excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community, distinguishes Allori as Colorado’s best high school girls track & field athlete. From CEOs and coaches to star athletes, Gatorade Player of the Year winners showcase the power of sport, touting an all-star group of alumni that includes Sanya Richards-Ross (2001-02, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Fla), Sydney McLaughlin (2016-17, 2015-16 & 2014-15, Union Catholic High School, N.J.) and Angelina Napoleon (2022-23, Allegany-Limestone Central School, N.Y.).

The 5-foot-8 senior distance talent broke the state record in the 3200-meter run this past season to win the Arcadia Invitational in California. Allori’s time of 9:58.08 ranks No. 5 in the nation among girls prep competitors in 2024. Competing in the Brooks PR Invitational meet 2-mile event, she earned the bronze medal in 9:50.70—the nation’s No. 3 prep time this spring. She also swept Class 3A state titles in the 800, 1600 and 3200 events and finished the season ranked in the national Top 70 at five different distances.

Allori has volunteered locally by managing Liberty Common’s Grandparents Day, which involves hosting 1000-plus grandparents across three campuses for a full day of classroom immersion, recitals and hospitality. She has also donated her time weekly as a math tutor for younger middle school and high school students. “Amidst a female distance-running resurgence, Isabel Allori repeatedly put herself front and center among the nation’s best,” said Rich Gonzalez, editor of PrepCalTrack.com. “Traveling across state lines for a series of major meets, her preparation and focus were always on point as she developed into one of the most consistent performers, earning Top 10 national rankings in three events (including the mile).”

Allori has maintained a 4.67 weighted GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on scholarship at the University of Wisconsin this fall.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts including coaches, scouts, media and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the state winners in each sport.

Allori joins recent Gatorade Colorado Girls Track & Field Players of the Year Emma Stutzman (2022-23, Pomona High School), Agur Dwol (2021-22, Mullen High School), Riley Stewart (2020-21, Cherry Creek High School) and Taylor James (2019-20, Niwot High School), among the state’s list of former award winners.
