- The calendar-based standard for restricted varsity will be replaced with a consistent, competition-based measure (specifically, designate a certain number of contests or meets).
Clarifying Recruiting Definition
Constitution & Bylaws, Article 19, Rules 1900.11
- Define “prospective student” as a student who attends a feeder elementary or middle school, or with those students that have pre-registered to attend that high school.
Contact with Non-High School Aged Students
Constitution & Bylaws, Article 19, Rules 1900.5
- Better, and more specifically clarify the appropriate contact non-high school aged students and the contact they may have with high schools and coaches. Specifically, schools may only have contact with students in their schools district attendance area, families that reach out directly to the school’s athletic director. Schools may not initiate direct communication in any form with non-prospective students with regards to athletics.
Spectator Behavior
Constitution & Bylaws, Article 2200, Rules 2240
- Creates an opportunity for school administration and/or coaches to clearly communicate expectations and potential consequences for negative behavior prior to contests.
