2A Girls Track and Field: Omofoma Caps Career with Four High Jump Titles

LAKEWOOD – Dayspring Christian senior Eboselulu Omofoma capped off her high school high jumping career in just about the only way she knows how – by winning.

On Thursday at Jefferson County Stadium, Omofoma won the Class 2A girls high jump with a winning mark of 5 feet, 7 inches. With the win, Omofoma officially went four-for-four in the high jump at the track and field state championships.

“I’m just really grateful to have done it again,” Omofoma said. “It was a crazy fight with that freshman (Braylee Foster) from Hoehne. She’s going to do amazing things. I’m blessed to have won it, truly.”

Foster finished a close second place with a mark of 5 feet, 5 inches to help push Omofoma to her four-peat.

Between her multiple events – high jump, triple jump, the 100-meter dash and the 300 hurdles – Omofoma now has nine total individual state titles in her career, one that overlapped with older sister Odone Omofuma to cultivate a dominant pair of careers between siblings.

“It was a privilege to run with my sister,” Omofoma said. “It’s crazy to always be on the track with her and be able to cheer her on for different parts of it. It’s just a blessing to have it. I can’t do a lot of it without her, my team and my competitors. They’re all the most amazing people in the entire world.”

In the 3,200-meter relay, Timnath defended its title from last season. The Cubs’ relay team of Ayslee Stone, Izzy Schimmelpfennig, Jensen DeAngelis and Natalie Washburn ran a time of 9:46.79 to place first.

The track and field state championships will continue on Friday starting at 9 a.m.
