2A Basketball: Boys and Girls Quarterfinals Results

AURORA - The quarterfinals of the of the 2026 CHSAA 2A Boys and Girls Basketball State Tournaments were played Thursday.

After starting the day at Colorado State University's Moby Arena in Fort Collins, the CSU campus was closed due to high winds and remaining games were shifted south to Longmont and Frederick High Schools.

The tournament will resume at Colorado State University on Friday.

In the opening boys game, Guede Wade had 19 points and 20 rebounds to lift No. 3 Heritage Christian to a 55-50 win over No. 6 Byers. Then, at Longmont, No. 2 Simla defeated No. 7 Vail Christian 68-42. In Frederick, No. 5 Golden View Classical Academy edged No. 13 Plateau Valley 49-47.

In girls place, Kandace Pargin had 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead No. 4 Sargent past No. 5 Sedgwick County in the first game of the day. And, in the final game at Moby Arena, Carlee Cox had 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists as No. 2 Simla cruised to a 71-29 victory over No. 7 Heritage Christian. At Longmont, No. 1 Merino beat No. 8 Akron 56-21, then No. 9 Limon got two free throws from Drey Tacha with four seconds to go and survived a 3-point miss at the buzzer for a 41-38 victory over No. 1 Sanford.

The tournament is scheduled to resume at CSU, with semifinals Friday, and the championship game on Saturday, March 14.
