AURORA — The seeding data for the state basketball tournaments in classes 6A and 5A have been finalized. Those boys and girls brackets will be unveiled later Sunday.
To find the finalized data, visit the CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index:
The brackets will be seeded using the following criteria:
Seeding will be done by CHSAA Seeding & Selection Index. League champions earn an automatic berth in the playoffs as long as they win their league outright. Each league must have a minimum of 5 teams in it for an automatic berth.
Seeds 1-8 are true seeded and will not change. Teams 9-24 are true seeded and may be moved a maximum of one spot to avoid league matchups in the second round (match-ups set by committee) only. Seeds 25-40 are true seeded except to try to avoid league matchups in the first round/play-in only (teams may be moved up or down one spot).
The two teams playing in the first round/play-in that will end up playing the top 8 seeds in the second round will not be preemptively moved to avoid league match-ups.
