3A Baseball: University, Eaton Advance to Semifinals




AURORA — The first weekend of the 2026 Colorado High School Activities Association’s Baseball State Championships is underway with the top-two seeds – No. 1 University and No. 2 Eaton – advancing through the first two rounds to set up semifinal meeting tomorrow. Through the six games being played across two sites – University High School and Butch Butler Field – on Friday, there was only one first-round upset.
The lone first-round upset came with No. 6 D’Evelyn defeating No. 3 Montezuma-Cortez, 16-10. With the win, D’Evelyn advanced to the second round, where it faced No. 2 Eaton, which advanced on a 7-0 win over No. 7 Elizabeth. In that second round game, Eaton narrowly got past D’Evelyn, 3-2.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 University beat No. 8 Wellington, 6-2, and No. 4 The Classical Academy escaped No. 5 Delta, 3-2, setting up a second-round game between University and TCA. In that matchup, University came away with a 6-0 win.
The final five games, which will conclude with the semifinal round, will be played tomorrow at those same two sites.
Saturday’s games will begin with the first round consolation games at 9:30 a.m., which will feed into the second round consolation games at noon. The semifinal game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Next weekend, the third and fourth-round consolation games will be played on Friday, May 29, with the winner of that fourth round consolation game advancing to Saturday’s championship game vs. the winner of this weekend’s semifinal game. The championship game will be played at 10 a.m., with the if-needed championship game to follow at 2:30 p.m.
