Girls Soccer: Field is Set for Championship Games on Tuesday, Wednesday




AURORA – The 2026 CHSAA Girls Soccer State Championships are moving quickly towards next week’s state title contests.
The finalists were determined in 5A, 4A and 3A after Thursday’s semifinals, while the 2A semifinals were played Saturday. Three defending state champions are back in the final: Fossil Ridge in 5A, Evergreen in 4A and Colorado Academy in 3A.
In 2A on Saturday, the top two seeds advanced with 1-0 victories, as No. 1 Buena Vista defeated No. 5 Frontier Academy and No. 2 Forge Christian beat No. 6 Denver Christian.
In 5A on Thursday, No. 8 Mountain Vista topped No. 13 Valor Christian 1-0, while defending state champion and No. 2 Fossil Ridge got a free-kick laser from just outside the box from Reese Morgan for a 2-1 overtime win against No. 3 Castle View in a rematch of last year’s title game.
In 4A on Thursday, No. 12 Mullen continued its postseason run with a 3-0 victory against No. 9 Windsor, while two-time defending champion and No. 6 Evergreen topped No. 2 Rampart 3-2.
In 3A on Thursday, No. 1 Kent Denver defeated No. 5 Jefferson Academy, and No. 3 Colorado Academy beat No. 2 Longmont 4-3.
The championship games will be played at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20. On Tuesday, the 3A game between Kent Denver and Colorado Academy is set for 5 p.m. and the 4A game matching Evergreen and Mullen is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. On May 20, the 2A game between Buena Vista and Forge Christian kicks off at 5 p.m. and the 5A game pitting Fossil Ridge and Mountain Vista follows at 8. Tickets for the championship games are available only through Seat Geek. There are no cash sales on site.
Mountain Vista has won five girls soccer state championships, most recently in 2024. Others came in 2005, 2011, 2013 and 2017. Last year was the only state championship in girls soccer for Fossil Ridge.
Evergreen has won the past two 4A state soccer championships and has four overall, with the others coming in 1990 and 1997. Mullen has won four girls soccer state championships, most recently in 2007. Others came in 1998, 2001 and 2002.
Kent Denver and Colorado Academy have each won seven girls soccer state championships. Kent Denver won most recently in 2022, and its others came in 1991, 2000, 2006, 2007, 2016 and 2021. Colorado Academy is going for its third straight title to follow up on championships from 1999, 2003, 2014, 2015 and 2019. The teams have combined for 13 of the 31 titles at the 3A level (Kent Denver won the 4A-1A class in 1991), and are meeting in the championship game for the third time: Kent Denver won 3-1 in 2016 and 1-0 in 2021, while Colorado Academy won 1-0 in 2003.
Buena Vista, the 2024 runner-up, is seeking its first state championship in girls soccer. Forge Christian has won three state titles, most recently in 2008.
