5A Girls Soccer: First Round Underway, But Multiple Games on Hold Due to Weather


AURORA – While nine teams have won first-round games in the 2026 5A Girls Soccer State Championships has been completed, weather has forced seven other contests to be put on hold.
Games that were underway will be restarted at the point of interruption.
Winners in the first round included the top two seeds — No. 1 Ralston Valley and No. 2 Fossil Ridge — and the opening round has seen one upset so far: No. 24 Regis Jesuit defeated No. 9 Broomfield, 1-0.
Top games saw No. 13 Valor Christian advance on penalty kicks against No. 20 Denver South, and No. 4 Pine Creek defeating No. 29 Heritage 2-1.
Second round games will be played on Friday, May 8 and will be hosted by the higher-seeded team.
