Girls Team Tennis: Semifinal Matchups Set for Tuesday, May 5




AURORA – The first two rounds of the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 2026 Girls Tennis Team State Championships have been completed with the semifinal matchups set in all three classifications. The semifinal round will be played at the home site of the higher seeded team on Tuesday, May 5.
In both the 5A and 4A brackets, all four of the higher seeds advanced, while the 3A bracket featured two upsets, as No. 7 Holy Family knocked off second-seeded D’Evelyn, 4-3, and No. 5 Colorado Academy snuck past No. 4 Lutheran, 4-3.
In the 5A bracket, No. 2 Cherry Creek swept its way past No. 10 Denver South, 7-0, but that was the lone sweep of the round. No. 1 Ralston Valley advanced with a 6-1 win over No. 8 Regis Jesuit, while No. 3 Valor Christian defeated No. 6 Rocky Mountain, 5-2, and No. 4 Rock Canyon moved past No. 12 Mountain Vista by the same score.
In the semifinals, No. 1 Ralston Valley will face No. 4 Rock Canyon, while No. 2 Cherry Creek will meet No. 3 Valor Christian.
In the 4A bracket, No. 1 Cheyenne Mountain put an end to No. 9 Windsor’s hot start, as Cheyenne Mountain advanced with a 5-2 score (Windsor had upset No. 8 Palmer Ridge 6-1 in the first round). No. 2 Kent Denver knocked off No. 7 Durango, 6-1, and by matching 5-2 scores, No. 3 Mullen defeated No. 6 Grand Junction, while No. 4 Air Academy advanced past No. 5 Niwot.
No. 1 Cheyenne Mountain will next face No. 4 Air Academy, while No. 2 Kent Denver and No. 3 Mullen will meet in the semifinals.
In the 3A bracket, No. 1 Vail Christian continued to cruise, as it knocked off No. 8 Eaton, 5-2, while No. 3 Prospect Ridge Academy eked out a 4-3 win over No. 6 Evergreen. No. 7 Holy Family completed its upset over No. 2 D’Evelyn and No. 5 Colorado Academy posted an upset over No. 4 Lutheran, each by scores of 4-3.
For the semifinal matchups, No. 1 Vail Christian will meet No. 5 Colorado Academy, while No. 3 Prospect Ridge Academy will face No. 7 Holy Family.
The six winners of the semifinals will all advance to the finals of the Girls Tennis Dual Team State Championships, which will be hosted on Tuesay, May 12 at Denver Tennis Park. The 5A Championship will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 4A championship at 11:30 a.m. and the 3A title match at 2:30 p.m.
