AURORA -- The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) has released its preseason coaches' polls for flag football.
Both of the inaugural state champions - Mountain Vista (5A) and Mountain View (4A) - have been picked as the top team in each classification. As the sport continues to grow, more teams continue to add, with Eagle Ridge Academy, Fountain-Fort Carson, Golden, Hinkley, Monarch, Palmer, Poudre School District, Regis Groff, Skyview, Standley Lake, Steamboat Springs and Wheat Ridge fielding teams this year.
Flag football games can start this Saturday with the format for the state championships changing this year. First round games will be played at home sites on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 14-15. The North Area Athletic Complex (NAAC), Jeffco Stadium and Trailblazer Stadium will host the second and quarterfinal round games on Saturday, Oct. 18, with the semifinals at Jeffco Stadium and Trailblazer Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 22. The two state championship games will be played at Trailblazer Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25.
