4A Diving: Evergreen's Carson Harrington Breaks State Meet Record in Three-Peat

THORNTON – This spring certainly was yet another banner season for Evergreen divers.

On Saturday at Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center, Cougars diver Carson Harrington won his third-straight Class 4A diving title. In doing so, his 11-dive score of 696.10 was the all-classification Colorado high school state record.

“Honestly, I’m just super excited,” Harrington said. “I’ve had a chaotic year with diving. Unfortunately, the school I was committed to cut their program. So, there’s been a lot of ups and downs and to leave high school with one big up is just super exciting.”

The previous state record of 671.75 was set by Denver North’s Jack Ryan in 2021. While breaking the previous all-time mark, Harrington, who was previously committed to California Polytechnic State University but will now attend the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, was also voted CHSCA's 4A Diver of the Year.

“I’m just really grateful for the opportunity,” Harrington said. “My best friend is in the program and is not able to speak any higher of it. I feel like I have a lot to learn and I’m really excited about the opportunities that they have there. And getting diver of the year, I’m just really grateful for that too. I try to come to the pool every day, every meet because everybody here is working their hardest. I’m really grateful that they realize that everybody’s in this together.”

Also for Evergreen, Henry Palmquist finished runner-up with an impressive 562.85. And rounding out the rest of the top awards handed out on Saturday, Cougars coach Brett Brinkhoff was voted CHSCA's 4A Dive Coach of the Year.

In third place, Silver Creek’s Rider Neeb finished with a score of 504.05, while Widefield’s Samuel Wright (477.90) placed fourth.

Monarch’s Casey Halloran (475.15) finished fifth and teammate Matthew Martino (463.00) was sixth.

Rounding out the rest for the top 10, Windsor’s Noah Abram (428.00) was seventh, Liberty’s Russell Murphy (402.75) was eighth, Cheyenne Mountain’s Cooper Lutze (401.85) was ninth and Lewis-Palmer’s Jackson Kemper (400.90) was 10th.
