AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association has announced the Round of 32 brackets for the 3A, 4A and 5A Softball State Championships.
Each of the three classifications will have eight four-team regional tournaments this Friday and/or Saturday. In 3A, the Round of 32 will be a single-elimination tournament with the regional champion and runner-up qualifying for the state bracket. In 4A and 5A, the Round of 32 will be a modified double-elimination tournament with the undefeated regional champion and the winner of the consolation bracket advancing to the state bracket.
Please note: due to CHSAA’s Postseason Rights Agreements with the NFHS Network, streaming outside of that platform is prohibited unless a broadcast agreement form has been submitted to and approved by CHSAA. That means that streaming any games through GameChanger, Facebook Live, YouTube, Hudl, etc., is not allowed without paying a rights fee to CHSAA. For those interested in streaming but do not have a way to stream, there are alternative options (ie – Broadcast Me and/orStreamLabs). Teams qualified for the postseason through their regular season performance. Each league champion automatically qualified for the state tournament, and the other spots were determined by the CHSAA Selection & Seeding Index, with the consideration that two teams within the same league couldn’t match up in the first round.
In each of the brackets, teams were flipped due to head-to-head competition and/or to avoid league matchups. In 3A, Eaton and University were flipped, as were Southeast Colorado and Forge Christian. In 4A, Durango and Silver Creek were switched, as were Discovery Canyon and Mesa Ridge. In 5A, Chatfield and Arvada West flopped, Mountain Vista and Chaparral switched and Fossil Ridge and Greeley West were switched.
