5A Girls Soccer: State Tournament Updates (May 9)

AURORA — The second round of the 5A girls soccer state tournament took place Friday, with quarterfinalists being determined.

The top game of the night saw No. 6 Castle View advance after playing to a 0-0 tie through regulation and two overtimes before defeating No. 11 Heritage on penalty kicks. Also Friday, No. 10 Broomfield knocked off No. 7 Rock Canyon, 2-1.

Teams are charting a course towards the May 21 championship game, to be played at 8 p.m. at Switchbacks Weidner Field in Colorado Springs.

Prior to that, the 5A semifinals are scheduled for May 17, at the University of Denver’s CIBER Field, with game times at 5 and 7:30 p.m.
