Boys Volleyball: First Round of the State Championships Completed

AURORA – The first round of the 2025 CHSAA Boys Volleyball State Championships at Fountain-Fort Carson’s Trojan Arena is in the books, with the quarterfinal round and first round consolation matchups set.
Play will begin on Saturday with the first-round consolation games at 9 a.m., followed by the championship quarterfinals and the second-round consolation games.
All game times and matchups will be available on the brackets. A parade of champions will take place before Saturday’s finals with trophies will be presented to teams immediately following the championship matches.
In the 4A bracket, the lone upset was No. 5 Severance getting past No. 4 DSST: College View, 3-1 (25-21, 28-25, 29-27, 25-18). Severance advanced to the quarterfinal round, where it will face top-seeded Regis Groff after Regis Groff swept No. 8 Lutheran, 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-22).
The other 4A semifinal will feature No. 2 D’Evelyn, which defeated No. 7 Stargate School, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18), and No. 3 Pueblo South after South got past No. 6 Denver Waldorf, 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-17, 25-15). The two semifinal matches will be played at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow.
In the consolation bracket, DSST: College View will play Lutheran, while Denver Waldorf will take on Stargate School. The first round consolation games will be played at 10:30 a.m., with the winners advancing to the second round consolation game at 4:30 p.m.

In the 5A bracket, each of the top four seeds advanced. No. 1 Littleton Public Schools swept No. 8 Niwot by scores of 25-23, 25-13 and 25-23. No. 2 Mountain Vista also swept No. 7 Valor Christian, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-19), while No. 4 Legacy narrowly edged No. 5 Grandview in five sets (25-13, 20-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-8). No. 3 Eaglecrest capped off the day by defeating No. 6 Discovery Canyo, 3-1 (26-28, 25-16, 25-15, 25-13).
Tomorrow’s quarterfinal matchups will feature Littleton Public Schools vs. Legacy and Mountain Vista vs. Eaglecrest at noon. In the first round consolation, Grandview will face Niwot, while Discovery Canyon will play Valor Christian at 9 a.m. The winners of the consolation games will advance to the second round consolation and play again at 3 p.m.
