6A Girls Basketball: First-Round Updates

AURORA – The first round of the 2025 CHSAA 6A Girls Basketball State Championships took place Wednesday, with winners advancing to Wednesday’s round of 16.

Only one of the eight games didn’t go according to form, with No. 21 Ralston Valley knocking off No. 12 Fruita Monument, 63-35.

There were three close finishes, as No. 8 Denver East edged No. 25 Eaglecrest, 54-49; No. 15 Doherty defeated No. 18 Rock Canyon in a low-scoring, 35-29 result; and No. 9 Arvada West held off No. 24 Erie, 53-46.

In other results, No. 1 Grandview defeated No. 33 Horizon, 72-30; No. 2 Valor Christian beat No. 34 Vista PEAK Prep, 91-59; No. 3 Broomfield topped No. 30 ThunderRidge, 61-36; No. 4 Cherry Creek doubled up No. 36 Rangeview, 50-25; No. 5 Pine Creek defeated No. 28 Overland, 61-36; No. 6 Highlands Ranch prevailed over No. 27 Chaparral, 67-30; No. 7 Legend beat No. 26 Fossil Ridge, 57-42; No. 10 Regis Jesuit stopped No. 23 Arapahoe, 60-39; No. 11 Cherokee Trail beat No. 22 Mountain Vista, 73-39; No. 13 Columbine defeated No. 20 Monarch, 76-58; No. 14 Riverdale Ridge beat No. 19 Northfield, 74-55; and No. 16 Rocky Mountain was a 49-37 winn over No. 17 Vista Ridge.
