6A Boys Basketball: Play-In Round Updates

AURORA – The play-in round of the 2025 CHSAA 6A Boys State Tournament took place Tuesday, with eight winners advancing to the first round.

Five of the eight games could be considered at least slight upsets: No. 33 Cherokee Trail defeated No. 32 Erie 63-47, No. 34 Rocky Mountain edged No. 31 Heritage 58-52, No. 35 Pueblo West beat No. 30 Boulder 73-54, No. 36 Cherry Creek got past No. 29 Legend 53-50, and No. 39 Vista PEAK Prep knocked off No. 26 Legacy 69-46.

In other games, No. 25 Grandview defeated No. 40 Castle View 70-53, No. 27 Loveland outscored No. 38 Pine Creek 82-75, and No. 28 Denver East beat No. 37 Columbine 63-52.

Tuesday’s winners moved into the 32-team first-round bracket, with 16 games scheduled for Friday.
