AURORA – The play-in round of the 2025 CHSAA 5A Boys State Tournament took place Tuesday, with eight winners advancing to the first round.
Three of the eight games were deciced by three points or less, and another was an eight-point decision.
Tuesday’s close results included No. 31 Pueblo Central edging No. 34 Glenwood Springs 73-71, No. 32 Golden getting past No. 33 Pueblo South 53-50, and No. 29 Thornton squeaking by No. 36 Wheat Ridge, also 53-50. No. 26 Mullen beat No. 39 Mullen County 70-62.
Also Tuesday, No. 25 Sand Creek beat No. 40 Gateway 84-59, No. 27 Pueblo Central defeated No. 38 Aurora Central 70-49, No. 28 Mountain View topped No. 37 Ponderosa 67-54, and No. 30 Thompson Valley beat No. 35 Silver Creek 85-66.
Tuesday’s winners moved into the 32-team first-round bracket, with 16 games scheduled for Friday.
