AURORA - With the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC advancing to - and hosting - the Western Conference Finals at Weidner Field on Saturday, the Colorado High School Activities Association has made schedule changes to its 2024 Boys Soccer State Championship games.
All four championship games were previously scheduled to be played on Saturday at the Switchbacks’ Weider Field. The 2A and 4A games will remain at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs but will be moved to Friday night. The 2A game is scheduled for 4 p.m. with the 4A championship to follow at 6:30 p.m.
The 3A and 5A games will remain on Saturday but will relocate to the DICK’S Sporting Goods Park - the home of the Colorado Rapids - in Commerce City. The 3A game will kick off at 11 a.m., followed by the 5A game at 2 p.m.
“First and foremost, we want to congratulate the Switchbacks on advancing to the Western Conference Finals, what an accomplishment,” said CHSAA Assistant Commissioner Justin Saylor, who oversees boys soccer. “While the scheduling conflict at Weidner Field creates short term issues to our event, ultimately, the success the Switchbacks have enjoyed on the field will yield positive impacts to the sport of soccer that will be felt well into the future.
"We’d also like to thank DICK’S Sporting Goods Park for stepping in to allow us to host another state championship event at a spectacular venue. We’re excited to be able to provide our boys soccer players the experience of playing in a professional sports atmosphere at both Weidner Field and DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.”
Tickets for the 2A and 4A games at Weidner Field will be on sale through SeatGeek, while the 3A and 5A tickets will be on sale through Ticketmaster. Tickets will be made available on Wednesday.
