2A Boys Soccer: First Round Games Complete

AURORA – The first round of the 2A Boys Soccer State Championships is complete and tomorrow’s second round matchups are set. Of the eight first-round games, the higher seed prevailed in all eight. 

The top-eight seeds all received first round byes, while No. 9 Fountain Valley, No. 10 Vail Mountain, No. 11 Middle Park, No. 12 Liberty Common, No. 13 Gunnison, No. 14 Telluride, No. 15 Bruce Randolph, and No. 16 Loveland Classical all won its first-round matchup to advance. 

All second round games will be hosted by the higher seeded team tomorrow. 
 

No. 9 Fountain Valley advanced by defeating No. 24 Grand Valley, 9-0, while No. 10 Vail Mountain came from behind to knock off No. 23 The Vanguard School, 3-2. No. 11 Middle Park shutout No. 22 Manual, 2-0, and No. 12 Liberty Common shutout No. 21 William Smith, 1-0, while No. 13 Gunnison earned a 4-3 victory over No. 20 Colorado Springs Christian. 

No. 14 Telluride knocked off No. 19 Front Range Baptist, 2-1, while No. 15 Bruce Randolph defeated No. 18 Thomas MacLaren, 2-0, and No. 16 Loveland Classical defeated No. 17 Front Range, 3-1.
