Girls Soccer: State Championship Match-Ups Have Been Cemented
AURORA – The match-ups are set for the Colorado High School Activities Association’s Girls Soccer State Championship Games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
The 3A and 4A state championship games will be played on Tuesday, May 21, with the 3A game between No. 1 seed Colorado Academy and No. 2 seed Jefferson Academy starting at 5 p.m., and the 4A game between No. 12 seed Lutheran and No. 14 Evergreen beginning at 8 p.m.
Then, the 2A and 5A state championship games will be played on Wednesday, May 22. The 2A state championship game between No. 1 Flatirons Academy and No. 7 Buena Vista will kick-off Wednesday’s action at 5 p.m. and No. 1 Mountain Vista and No. 3 Rock Canyon will contend for the 5A title at 8 p.m.
All of the championship games will be streamed live on the NFHS Network.
5A
No. 1 seed Mountain Vista defeated No. 8 seed Pine Creek, 1-0, and No. 5 seed Ralston Valley, 1-0, to punch their ticket to the state championship. If the Golden Eagles win the state championship, it would be their fifth girls soccer championship and their first since 2017.
No. 3 seed Rock Canyon advanced past No. 11 seed Castle View, 2-1, and shut out No. 10 seed Heritage, 3-0, to reach the championship game. The Jaguars are chasing their first girls soccer state championship, though Rock Canyon has finished as the runner-up three times, including twice in the last three seasons (2023 and 2021).
4A
No. 12 seed Lutheran beat No. 13 seed Green Mountain, 2-1, in the quarterfinals and then defeated No. 9 seed Denver North, 1-1, in penalty kicks, to advance to the state championship game. The Lions are in search of the program’s first-ever girls soccer title, though Lutheran did finish runner-up last season after reaching their first girls soccer state championship game.
No. 14 seed Evergreen defeated No. 27 Air Academy, 6-0, and upset No. 2 Northfield, 3-2, in the quarterfinals and semifinals, to advance. The Cougars are looking for their third girls soccer state championship and their first since 1997. Evergreen previously finished as runner-up, after reaching the championship game, in 2017, 2019 and 2021.

No. 1 seed Colorado Academy shut out No. 9 seed Timnath, 7-0, before doing the same to No. 4 seed Delta, 8-0, to to make it to the state championship. If the Mustangs win the state championship, it would be their sixth girls soccer championship and their first since 2019.
No. 2 seed Jefferson Academy also hasn’t allowed a goal this postseason, advancing past No. 10 seed Roaring Fork, 7-0, and No. 3 seed Kent Denver, 1-0, in the last two rounds. The Jaguars are hoping to defend their 2023 girls soccer state championship. It would be the third girls soccer state championship victory in school history.
2A
No. 1 Flatirons Academy defeated No. 8 Dawson School, 8-0, and No. 4 Crested Butte, 3-2 to reach the state finals. Flatirons Academy is looking to win the first boys soccer state title in program history, and this will also be the first time in the boys soccer state championship game for the Bison.
No. 7 Buena Vista defeated No. 2 Denver Christian, 4-2, and No. 6 Colorado Springs Christian, 1-0, to book its first trip to the boys soccer state championship in program history. Buena Vista was eliminated in the quarterfinals a season ago.
