CHSAA Preseason Rankings for Boys Soccer

AURORA – With the first contest of the 2023 boys soccer season today, check out CHSAA’s top-10 rankings for each classification. The state championship will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Switchbacks Weider Field in Colorado Springs.

Boys Soccer 5A
Denver Public Schools continued their dominant run in boys soccer as Denver East took home the 5A CHSAA State Championship in 2022. The Angels enter the 2023 season ranked No. 3 overall in the CHSAA Preseason Rankings, as last years top seed in the bracket (Legacy) enters the 2023 season ranked No. 1 overall to start the season. 5A is as loaded as it gets from top to bottom. Don’t be surprised if anyone in the CHSAA Preseason Rankings finds themselves on the outside looking in at any point during the season.

Boys Soccer 4A
Northfield enters the season as the two-time defending CHSAA State Champions and the No. 1 overall rank in the CHSAA Preseason Rankings. Silver Creek returns a strong nucleus of players, while Mullen has been in the mix the last several years.  Plenty of strong competition from both the Southern and Western parts of the state, as it’s anyone’s guess who will give the Nighthawks a run for their money as someone other than Northfield looks to win a 4A State Championship for the first time since 2020.

Boys Soccer 3A
The Metro League will be loaded once again this season as Jefferson Academy and Colorado Academy take the top two spots in the CHSAA Preseason Rankings. Roaring Fork and Coal Ridge should once again factor into the 3A playoff push, while Liberty Common and Frontier Academy look to be on top in the always competitive Patriot League.

Boys Soccer 2A
Vail Mountain takes the top spot in the CHSAA Preseason Rankings coming off an impressive 2022 season that saw the Gore Rangers win their first CHSAA State Championship in boys soccer. Lotus School for Excellence is looking to finally get over the hump in 2023 after consecutive seasons finishing as the runners-up. 2A has plenty of parity as any of the teams in the preseason top-10, and several outside the top-10 can compete for a championship this season.
