AURORA – The 5A girls soccer state championship match between 10th-seeded ThunderRidge and the 17th-seeded Rock Canyon is set for Thursday night at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.
ThunderRidge used a 2-0 shutout win over No. 14 Fairview in the semifinals to advance to the title game. ThunderRidge opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over No. 23 Fort Collins in the first round before playing No. 7 Mountain Vista to a scoreless draw in the second round. Following a shootout win over Mountain Vista, ThunderRidge knocked off No. 2 Broomfield, 1-0, in the quartefinal round.
Rock Canyon also won a shootout to advance to the title game, as it had tied No. 4 Heritage in the semifinals. Rock Canyon escaped No. 16 Columbine, 3-2, in the first round, and then knocked out top-seeded Fossil Ridge by the same score. A 4-1 win over No. 9 Pine Creek in the quarterfinals advanced ThunderRidge to the semifinal round.
All tickets are digital and must be purchased through Ticketmaster, no cash sales will be made on site. Tickets are $14.45 each. All 2022-2023 CHSAA Cards and Passes will be accepted (courtesy cards, media cards, etc.). It’s encouraged that you purchase tickets in advance to bypass long lines.
The 5A girls soccer championship game is being played at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. The stadium is located at 6000 Victory Way, Commerce City, 80022.
The game begins at 6:45 p.m.
