Fall Sports Practices Get Underway Today

AURORA – All fall sports are officially underway today, with the first practices for cross country, field hockey, flag football, gymnastics, boys soccer, softball, spirit, boys tennis, unified bowling and girls volleyball starting. Practices for boys golf and football started last Monday.

The first scrimmage and/or contest date for boys tennis can be on Thursday, Aug. 13. The regular season will end on Thursday, Oct. 1 with individual regionals scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 7-10, and the state championships Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 15-17 in Denver and Pueblo. The dual team tennis tournament will kickoff with the first round on Wednesday, Sept. 30 and conclude with the team championship on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Denver Tennis Park.

Softball can also begin scrimmages and/or contests on Thursday, Aug. 13, with the regular season ending on Saturday, Oct. 10. Regionals will take place on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17. The Softball State Championships are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24 at Aurora Sports Park.

All other sports can start scrimmages on Saturday, Aug. 15, with flag football also starting its games that day. The flag football regular season ends on Saturday, Oct. 10, with the state championship games being played on Saturday, Oct. 24.

All other sports can begin contests on Thursday, Aug. 20.

Cross country will begin its postseason competition with regionals scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 22-24. The state meet will be held at Norris Penrose Events Center on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The field hockey regular season will conclude on Thursday, Oct. 22. Playoffs will begin on Monday, Oct. 26 and conclude with the state finals on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at DPS All-City Stadium.

Regular-season gymnastics meets will conclude on Saturday. Oct. 17, with regionals slated for Thursday, Oct. 29 through Saturday, Oct. 31. The state championships will take place on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7 at the Denver Coliseum.

The boys soccer regular season will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 24 with the Boys Soccer State Championships slated for Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Switchbacks’ Weidner Field.

Unified bowling regionals will take place Wednesday though Friday, Nov. 11-13. The state championships for the inaugural season of a 4A and 5A classification are set for Friday, Nov. 20 at Lucky Strike at Lone Tree.

Girls volleyball will conclude its regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31. Regionals will be completed by Saturday, Nov. 7 with the state championship running Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 12-14 at the Denver Coliseum.

Finally, spirit will conclude the fall season slate with its state championship running Thursday though Saturday, Dec. 10-12, also at the Denver Coliseum.
