Boys Golf, Football Practices Kick Off 2026-27 School Year


AURORA – The first practice of the boys golf and football seasons can take place today, officially marking the start of the 2026-27 academic year for the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA).
The first scrimmage and/or contest for boys golf teams can be on Wednesday, Aug. 5 with the regular season ending on Saturday, Sept. 26. The state championships are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 5-7 at the:
- Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo for 2A,
- Cattails Golf Course in Alamosa for 3A,
- Lone Tree Golf Club in Lone Tree for 4A,
- and Columbine Country Club in Littleton for 5A.
While the first preseason football practices can take play beginning today, no protective equipment, except shoes, jersey and helmets, can be worn now through Saturday, Aug. 8 for the Heat Acclimatization Period. On Monday-Tuesday Aug. 10-11, full protective equipment and uniform is allowed, but no player-player contact is permitted. Full contact is allowed beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12, with the first scrimmages being allowed on Thursday, Aug. 13. Games can begin for Zero Week on Thursday, Aug. 20.
The regular season will end on Saturday, Oct. 24 for 2A, with all other classifications ending on Saturday, Oct. 31. The 6-man and 8-man state championships are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27 at CSU-Pueblo, followed by the 1A and 2A title games on Saturday, Nov. 28 at the same venue. The 3A, 4A and 5A championship games will be the following weekend, on Saturday, Dec. 6 at CSU in Fort Collins.
