4A Girls Lacrosse: Pair of One-Goal Games Highlight First Round Results


AURORA – The first round of the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 4A Girls Lacrosse State Championships is in the books, but not without some excitement.
The first-round featured two upsets and two one-goal games, with No. 17 Green Mountain picking up both of those titles, as the Rams upset No. 16 Grand Junction by one, 12-11. No. 15 Summit was the other one-goal game winner, as it escaped No. 18 Rampart, 13-12, while No. 20 Mead upset No. 13 Mullen, 16-4.
No. 12 Holy Family knocked off No. 21 St. Mary’s Academy, 16-5, while No. 10 Durango ran past No. 23 Pueblo West, 24-6. No. 11 Dakota Ridge shutout No. 22 Montrose, 18-0, No. 14 Fruita Monument beat No. 19 Horizon 13-11 and No. 9 Telluride advanced on a forfeit.
The second-round matchups feature No. 1 Battle Mountain hosting No. 17 Green Mountain, No. 2 Golden facing No. 15 Summit, No. 3 Roaring Fork taking on No. 14 Fruita Monument, No. 4 Evergreen hosting No. 20 Mead, No. 5 Steamboat Springs welcoming No. 12 Holy Family, No. 6 Cheyenne Mountain meeting No. 11 Dakota Ridge, No. 7 Air Academy taking on No. 10 Durango and No. 8 Aspen hosting No. 9 Telluride.
Second round games will be played on Thursday, May 7 and will be hosted by the higher seeded team.
