Boys Tennis: Team Tournament Semifinalists Have Been Determined




AURORA – Quarterfinal round matchups in the Colorado High School Activities Association’s Boys Tennis Team State Championships were completed Friday, determining the semifinalists in both 5A and 4A.
Only one team not among the top four seeds is remaining — that’s 5A’s No. 5 seed, Fossil Ridge, which edged No. 4 Grandview 4-3.
The semifinals are Tuesday, Oct. 14, and championships are the following Tuesday, Oct. 21.
In the 5A bracket, Fossil Ridge will now play No. 1 seed Regis Jesuit, a 7-0 victor against No. 8 Lakewood. In the other 5A matchups, No. 2 Cherry Creek defeated No. 7 Fairview 6-1 and No. 3 Valor Christian beat No. 11 Mountain Vista 7-0..
In the semifinals, No. 2 Cherry Creek plays No. 3 Valor Christian, and No. 1 Regis Jesuit faces No. 5 Fossil Ridge.
In the 4A bracket, No. 1 Kent Denver will play No. 4 D’Evelyn in the semifinals. Kent Denver beat No. 8 Discovery Canyon 7-0, and D’Evelyn topped No. 5 Mullen 5-2. In the other semifinal, No. 2 Colorado Academy plays No. 3 Peak to Peak. Colorado Academy beat No. 7 Goerge Washington 7-0, and Peak to Peak topped No. 11 Grand Junction 5-2.
