5A Football: Erie Posts Lone Upset of Second Round
AURORA – The second round of the 2024 5A Football playoffs are in the books and the quarterfinal round matchups are set.
Friday night, top-seeded Cherry Creek defeated No. 17 Grandview, 38-10, while No. 2 Mountain Vista knocked off No. 15 Fossil Ridge, 49-14. No. 6 Legend escaped No. 11 Arapahoe, 24-20, and No. 7 Fairview used a 42-15 win over No. 10 Chatfield to advance to the quarterfinals. The lone upset in the 5A bracket Friday night was No. 9 Erie getting past No. 8 Pine Creek, 28-23.
On Saturday, No. 3 Ralston Valley beat No. 14 Arvada West 24-17, No. 5 Valor Christian topped No. 12 Regis Jesuit 24-17 and No. 4 Columbine beat No. 20 Cherokee Trail 42-21. .
