3A Boys Golf: Evergreen Holds 12 Stroke Lead After Day 1 of State

PUEBLO – Following the first round of the 3A Boys Golf State Championship at Walking Stick Golf Course, Evergreen holds a 12-stroke lead in the team race, while the Cougars’ senior Tyler Long leads the individuals with a 5-under 67. 

All four of Evergreen’s golfers are in the top-five, with senior Lincoln Mackay and Liam Houlihan tied for third and one stroke back of Basalt sophomore Griffin Didier, who is second among the individuals at 3-under 69. Tied for fifth with Peak to Peak junior Jack Brayman is Evergreen senior Lube Sabina at 1-under 71.

Timnath sophomore Ethan Eisenmenger and Resurrection Christian junior Clint Summers are tied for seventh with an even 72, while Manitou Springs sophomore Hayden Dorsey, Pagosa Springs junior Johnathan Smith and Resurrection Christian junior Micah Livingstone are tied for ninth at 1-over 73. 

As a team, Evergreen sits at 9-under 207, while Resurrection Christian is second at 3-over 219. In third place is Basalt at 8-over 224, while Timnath is one-stroke back of that and in fourth at 9-over 225. Peak to Peak sits fifth at 10-over 226.
