Shared Streaming Policy for NFHS Network-Declined Postseason Events

CHSAA Shared Streaming Policy for NFHS Network-Declined Postseason Events

Purpose
To provide guidance and structure for third-party streaming of CHSAA postseason events that the NFHS Network has officially declined to broadcast, while ensuring coverage is still accessible to the public through shared distribution.

Eligibility for Shared Streaming
Third-party streaming of a CHSAA postseason event is only permitted under the following conditions:
  1. NFHS Network Decline Required
    • CHSAA must have received official notice that the NFHS Network has declined broadcast rights for the event.
    • If the NFHS Network has not declined, or if the venue is equipped with a Pixellot camera, third-party streaming is not permitted under this policy.
  2. Live Feed Sharing Requirement
    • Approved third-party streams must be shared directly with the NFHS Network and aired simultaneously on both:
      • The third party’s chosen streaming platform, and
      • The NFHS Network platform.
Discounted Streaming Rights
To support broader access, CHSAA will offer a discounted broadcast rights fee to third-party streaming services that meet the criteria outlined above and agree to share their live feed with the NFHS Network. All third-party streaming services must be in good standing with the CHSAA office to receive approval.

Streaming Rights Assignment Criteria
To ensure fair access and prevent technical limitations, streaming rights will be assigned as follows:
  1. Home Team Preference
    • Priority will be given to the third-party streaming service that has covered the home team throughout the season.
  2. One Stream Per Game
    • Due to venue limitations such as space and bandwidth, only one third-party stream will be allowed per event.
    • CHSAA will not approve multiple streaming providers for the same game.
  3. No Pixellot Overrides
    • If a venue is equipped with a Pixellot camera and the NFHS Network has not declined the event, this policy does not apply, and no third-party stream will be authorized.
Approval Process
All requests for third-party postseason streaming must be submitted to CHSAA for pre-approval. Streaming may not proceed without written consent and confirmation of NFHS Network decline status.
