The CHSAA Board of Directors, through staff recommendations, has established a media policy for students. Often schools assign students to cover events but because students aren’t eligible to receive a CHSAA media credential, students cannot access the areas they need to. With this policy, a school may assign a student to cover an event and not need to request permission from the CHSAA office.
Please note:
- Media passes are for current high school students use only (NO ADULT MAY USE THIS PASS).
- FOUR (4) Student Media passes will be distributed at the beginning of the year to each member school.
- One (1) pass will grant admission for ONE (1) student to regular season and state level events. Two students cannot share one pass.
- Digital or photo copies of a Student Media Pass will NOT be accepted, and will be confiscated.
- All CHSAA media regulations apply (see CHSAA Media Handbook).
- No student press row seating will be provided at state events due to lack of space. Students may not be allowed floor access at certain state events (such as wrestling) due to limited space, unless otherwise noted.
- Abuse of media privileges will result in immediate revocation of the pass.
- The school administrator and newspaper/video/broadcast sponsor will be accountable for the student’s behavior at each event.
- A school administrator and/or newspaper/video/broadcast sponsor MUST go over policies and procedures with a student before issuing them a pass.
- The use of the high school media pass shall be restricted to student representatives of the competing schools at all regular season and playoff events.
- No former students, parents, alumni, athletic administrators, etc., may utilize a Student Media Pass.
- The student media pass may not be used to gain entry for a student manager or additional player. This type of activity will be considered a revocable offense for school passes.
- If more passes are needed for an individual school, the Athletic Director may reach out to Amanda at amcclure@chsaa.org to inquire about accessing more passes.
- Student media are NOT eligible to receive a season-long or provisional CHSAA Media Credential and MUST utilize a Student Media Pass.
MEDIA FACILITY MANAGEMENT – CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS
Student Media are required to check-in with the CHSAA Media Liaison at all CHSAA Championship Events. At most championship events, the check-in will be located at the main entrance.
