AURORA - The Colorado High School Activities Association awarded its individual state champions for all seven positions at the Girls Tennis Individual State Championship on Saturday.
Across the three classifications, 11 different teams claimed at least one position championship with Cheyenne Mountain leading the way with five individual titles. Ralston Valley picked up four, while Cherry Creek, Colorado Academy and D'Evelyn captured two each. Rounding out the champions were Eaton, Kent Denver, Niwot, Severance, Vail Christian and Valor Christian with one apiece.
Valor Christian's Caroline Daugherty defended her title at 5A's No. 1 singles position. In winning a third-straight championship, Daugherty becomes the state's eighth girls tennis player to win three or more state titles and the first three-time state champion since Kent Denver's Lila Moldenhauer did so in 4A from 2023-25.
In 4A, Cheyenne Mountain's Rose Katen was victorious after winning No. 2 doubles a year ago, bringing the No. 1 singles title to Cheyenne Mountain to the first time since Kalyssa Hall did so in 2014. It marks the 10th No. 1 singles championship for the Red-Tailed Hawks.
In 3A, Colorado Academy's Mira Leon won her first state title to bring the Mustangs their sixth individual championship at No. 1 singles. It marks Colorado Academy's third No. 1 singles titles in the last six years, as Anna Jordaan was victorious in both 2021 and 2023.
Team champions will be crowned on Tuesday during the
Girls Tennis Dual Team State Championship.
