Kevin Shaffer to Join CHSAA as Coordinator of Broadcast Partnerships

AURORA - The Colorado High School Activities Association has announced that Kevin Shaffer will join the association as Coordinator of Broadcast Partnerships on July 1.

In this new role, Shaffer will serve as the primary liaison between the Association and the NFHS Network, overseeing all aspects of postseason broadcast coordination and related contractual agreements. He will work closely with NFHS Network representatives and member schools to ensure consistent, high-quality coverage of championship events, while also supporting communication, planning, and execution of broadcast initiatives.

“We are beyond excited to welcome Kevin Shaffer to the CHSAA staff as our Coordinator of Broadcast Partnerships,” CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger said. “Kevin is a trusted voice across Colorado when it comes to high school athletics and activities, and his understanding of the prep landscape, along with the relationships he has built throughout our stakeholder community, will be invaluable as we continue to serve our membership across multiple platforms. Kevin is a true servant leader who brings both experience and passion for educationally based athletics and activities. He is joining a team of individuals who share that same commitment, and I am confident he will be a natural fit as we continue to support and elevate opportunities for our member schools in new and exciting ways. ”

Shaffer comes to CHSAA already closely connected to the NFHS Network, where he currently leads the planning and execution of postseason broadcasts across Colorado. His responsibilities include scheduling on-air talent, coordinating video operators, and organizing production logistics for NFHS Network-covered championship events.

A native of rural Kansas, Shaffer worked his way through all levels of radio coverage before founding the Colorado Preps Network in the summer of 2003 to provide the public with timely and accessible information about the teams they follow.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Kevin into this role,” said Amanda McClure, CHSAA’s Director of Communications. “His statewide experience, strong relationships with the NFHS Network, member schools and broadcast partners, and his deep knowledge of postseason broadcasting make him uniquely qualified for this position. He is a hard worker who values mentorship and brings a collaborative, relationship-driven approach that aligns well with CHSAA’s mission. We’re excited for the impact he will have in enhancing the overall experience for our schools, broadcast partners, student participants, and fans.”

In addition to serving as the NFHS Network liaison, Shaffer will help identify and cultivate relationships with student content creators across member schools, creating opportunities to showcase their work through the Association’s digital platforms.
