CHSAA Set to Attend NFHS Summer Meetings

AURORA – Members of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) are set to attend the 107th annual Summer Meeting hosted by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) this Friday through Monday in Salt Lake City.
The four-day event will feature 39 workshops across six sessions, with four CHSAA administrators – Commissioner Mike Krueger, Associate Commissioner Jenn Roberts-Uhlig, Assistant Commissioner Rashaan Davis and Director of Communications Amanda McClure – participating in leading workshops.
On Friday, Davis will present during the NFHS Access and Opportunity Luncheon and Awareness Session before teaming up with Roberts-Uhlig and Nebraska Assistant Director Taryn Retzlaff to lead the “Creating Inclusive Opportunities for Students with Disabilities in Activities” sessions. There, attendees will explore best practices, policy considerations and program models that promote inclusion across activities.
On Monday, McClure will partner with Rebecca Brutlag from California, Tim Leighton from Minnesota, Tom Mix from North Dakota and Romanda Noble-Watson (South Carolina) to present on “Best Practices in Crisis Communications.”
Krueger will then close out CHSAA’s presentations Monday when he joins Oklahoma’s Executive Director to lead a session called “The Advocacy Playbook: Proactive Legislation Strategies for State Associations.” The session will explore how state associations can take a proactive and strategic approach to legislative advocacy rather than reacting after policies are introduced.
More than 800 attendees are expected the summer meeting, including state association staff and board members, NFHS Board of Directors members, national activities leaders and guests. Attendees will collaborate on national initiatives aimed at strengthening education-based athletics and activities, with sessions focused on policy, legal issues, professional development and networking opportunities for key leaders in high school sports and activities.
