5A Girls Golf Regionals: 2025 State Qualifiers Determined

AURORA -- Girls golf regionals are scheduled for this week in Class 5A, with the top two teams from each region and the top 13 individual players not on a qualifying team advancing to the state tournament.

The 5A regionals started Monday, with the Southern, Central and Western regionals playing. The Northern region is scheduled for Wednesday.

The 5A state tournament is May 19 and 20 at Todd Creek Golf Club in Thornton.

Class 5A

Southern

At the Pinery Country Club in Parker, Ellie Barry of Fossil Ridge shot a 1-under par 71 for individual honors while leading the Sabercats to the team title with a three-player score of 233. Cherry Creek picked up the second state-tournament team invitation.

Behind Barry, Lilie Cohen of Chaparral, Makayla Profera of Cherry Creek and Richa Sajjan of Fossil Ridge tied for second at 78, while Tatum Platt of Cherry Creek was fifth at 79. Audrey Whitmore of Regis Jesuit shot 80 for sixth, and was followed by Elizabeth Malcolm of Chaparral (seventh at 81), Annette Parker of Pine Creek (eighth at 83), Abbi Beld of Fossil Ridge (ninth at 84) and Marlena Hoskin of Mountain Vista (10th at 86).

Central

At City Park in Denver, Ashley Chang of Rock Canyon and Shelby McCord of Castle View led the way individually with rounds of 1-under par, with McCord taking medalist honors after a one-hole playoff. Meanwhile, Chang helped the Jaguars to the team title with a three-player score of 225. Castle View earned the second state tournament spot with a 234.

Four players turned in third-place scores of 77 -- Rock Canyon teammates Taylor Wilson and Kelsey Pringle, as well as Douglas County teammates Payten Baca and Isabel Paraiso. Tied for seventh at 79 were Payton Rowell of Castle View and Joylanae Barnhill of Dohery, while Ella Luttenbacher of Rocky Mountain was ninth at 80 and Haylee Clark of Cherokee Trail shot 82 for 10th.

Northern

Date: MaddedMaddie Makino and Aydson Ice each shot tournament-best rounds of 4-over par 76 at Broadlands Golf Course in Broomfield to lead Legend to a team total of 241 and a 14-stroke margin over second-place Legacy.

Legacy's Chloe Hartojo tied for third with Chanel Carlacci of Northfield with 77s, then Hayden Hawley of Horizon was fifth at 78. Carolina Castro of ThunderRidge was with after shooting 83, and she was followed by Anjali Hagner of Legacy in seventh at 84. Tied for eighth at 87 was the Chatfield pair of Reagan Allen and Alaina Crotty, and Legend's Lexi Glendenning was 10th at 89.

At Indian Tree Golf Course in Arvada, Addison Hines of Ralston Valley shot a blistering 66 for the individual title, finishing two strokes ahead of two-time defending state champion Brenna Higgins of Valor Christian at 68.

Valor Christian, with Ella Scott (third at 76) and Aja Blankenship (fourth at 77) following Higgins, won the team title with its three-player score of 221, with Ralston Valley second at 245.

Also in the individual top 10, Anica Lest of Columbine was fifth at 81, Belle Eide of Valor Christian was sixth at 82, Raleigh Puzio of Brighton was seventh at 83, and Kadence Ulrich of Fruita Monument was eighth with 86. Three players -- Columbine teammates Lily Hathaway and Emory Crawley and Erie's Kenna Miller -- tied for ninth at 89.
