AURORA - The first round of the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 2025 Girls Tennis Team State Championships have been completed. The winning teams will advance to the quarterfinal round, which will be played at the home site of the higher seed on Friday.
 
In both the 5A and 4A brackets, all eight of the higher seeds advanced, while the 3A bracket featured two upsets. 
In the 5A bracket, No. 1 Ralston Valley swept No. 16 Arapahoe and No. 2 Cherry Creek swept No. 15 Denver East, both by scores of 7-0. No. 3 Valor Christian got past No. 14 Fort Collins, 6-1, while No. 4 Fossil Ridge swept No. 13 Legacy, 7-0. No. 5 Rock Canyon knocked off No. 12 Poudre, 6-1, No. 6 Regis Jesuit swept No. 11 Arvada West, 7-0, No. 7 Rocky Mountain swept No. 10 Mountain Vista and No. 8 Fairview narrowly got past No. 9 ThunderRidge, 4-3. 
Ralston Valley will host Fairview in the second round, while Cherry Creek will host Rocky Mountain, Valor Christian will take on Regis Jesuit, and Fossil Ridge will face Rock Canyon.
In the 4A bracket, No. 1 Kent Denver swept No. 16 Lewis-Palmer, 7-0, No. 2 Cheyenne Mountain blanked No. 15 Windsor, 7-0 and No. 3 Mullen won all seven lines against No. 14 Standley Lake. No. 4 Niwot escaped No. 13 Thompson Valley, 4-3, and No. 5 Air Academy narrowly got past No. 12 Longmont, 4-3, while No. 6 Palmer Ridge swept No. 11 Loveland, 7-0. In the rest of the bracket, No. 7 Pueblo County earned a 4-3 victory over No. 10 George Washington and No. 8 Grand Junction defeated No. 9 Thomas Jefferson, 7-0. 
In the quarterfinal round, Kent Denver will host Grand Junction, Cheyenne Mountain will face Pueblo County, Mullen will take on Palmer Ridge and Air Academy will travel to Niwot. 
In the 3A bracket, No. 11 Lutheran upset No. 6 Evergreen, 5-2, and No. 9 Eaton knocked off No. 8 Severance, 4-3, while No. 1 Peak to Peak got past No. 16 Fountain Valley, 6-1, No. 2 Prospect Ridge Academy swept No. 15 Wellington, 7-0, and No. 3 Colorado Academy defeated No. 14 D'Evelyn, 6-1. In the rest of the matches, No. 4 Holy Family escaped No. 13 St. Mary's Academy, 4-3, No. 5 Vail Christian knocked off No. 12 Dawson School, 6-1, and No. 7 Timnath escaped No. 10 Resurrection Christian, 4-3. 
Peak to Peak will host Eaton in the quarterfinals, while Timnath will travel to Prospect Ridge Academy, Colorado Academy will take on Lutheran and Holy Family will host Vail Christian.
