AURORA —Practice for 2025-26 winter sports may officially begin today for high schools across the state of Colorado, with the exception of ice hockey,
which started last week.
Scrimmages are scheduled to start on Thursday, Nov. 20 for girls swimming and then Saturday, Nov. 22 for boys and girls basketball and wrestling. The first competitions can take place on Thursday, Nov. 27 for swimming or Monday, Dec. 1 for basketball or wrestling. For ice hockey, the first game may be Thursday, Nov. 20.
The winter restriction period will be from Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Jan. 1, with no competitions allowed to be scheduled during that time. Teams may conduct voluntary practices Monday, Dec. 29 through Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Winter postseason competition will take place throughout the months of February and March, as the Colorado High School Activities Association will host championships in boys and girls basketball, ice hockey, boys and girls skiing, speech & debate, girls swimming and boys and girls wrestling.
