Gordon Volk Honored as May's Brewed for Impact Award Winner

AURORA - CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger announced on the May edition of Coffee with the Commish that Gordon Volk is the May winner of the Brewed for Impact with Circle K award. The award marks the final honor for the 2025-26 school year.

Volk is the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Arvada West.

“Gordon Volk represents the kind of leader who makes a lasting impact on students, programs, and school communities through steady leadership, high standards, and genuine care for others," CHSAA Commissioner Michael Krueger said. "At Arvada West High School, Gordon has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to educationally based athletics and activities, creating experiences that help students grow not only as competitors, but as young people.

"What stands out most about Gordon is the way he leads with professionalism, authenticity, and purpose. He understands the value that athletics and activities bring to the educational experience and works tirelessly to support students, coaches, and programs in a way that reflects those values every day. His leadership has had a meaningful influence within his school community and well beyond.

"We are incredibly grateful for Gordon’s dedication and service to students and schools in Colorado. He is truly deserving of this recognition, and we are proud to honor him as this month’s Brewed for Impact Award recipient.”

New for the 2025-26 school year and in partnership with Circle K, CHSAA has been recognizing school administrators with a Brewed for Impact Award. This award honors those who lead with purpose, consistency and heart - pouring into others while championing educationally based athletics and activities. This monthly recognition is part of Coffee with the Commish and recognizes leadership that goes beyond wins and losses and focuses on building stronger schools and stronger communities through the values of educationally based programs.

Each month, one award winner received a certificate from CHSAA Commissioner Mike Krueger and a coffee mug from Circle K for embodying the mission of CHSAA and making a meaningful difference in their schools and communities.

The first award winner was announced on September 24, 2025. The award will continue into the 2026-27 school year with the first winner being announced in September.
