COLORADO SPRINGS - Ben Adams of Mountain Vista set the 5A and course record in the morning, then Oliver Horton of Coronado broke Adams' course record while leading Coronado to the 4A title later in the day, highlighting the individual efforts Saturday at the CHSAA Boys Cross Country State Championships at the Norris Penrose Events Center.
The Classical Academy won the 3A team championship for its 10th title, Golden View Classical Academy won its third straight 2A crown and Niwot earned its third straight championship overall, including its second in a row in 5A. Coronado won its second state title, with the first having come in 2013.
Other individual winners were The Vanguard School's Max Miller in 3A, and Ethan Kiptui of St. Mary's in 2A -- who won in thrilling fashion as he dove to the finish to win by .01 seconds.
