AURORA - The first round of the CHSAA 4A Boys Soccer State Championships was played Wednesday, with 16 winners advancing to the second round. In addition, one first-round game from the 2A tournament was played as well on Wednesday, with another Thursday and the rest of the first round scheduled for Saturday.

Four underdogs sprung first-round upsets in 4A: No. 29 Montbello beat No. 4 Montrose 3-1, No. 24 Glenwood Springs defeated No. 9 Niwot 3-2, No. 19 George Washington edged No. 14 Eagle Valley (2-2, penalty kicks), and No 18 Rampart topped No. 15 Harrison 3-2.

Second-round 4A games are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5, with the quarterfinals on Nov. 8 and the semifinals on Nov. 12.

The semifinals and championship games for all four classifications, in addition to the 5A quarterfinals, will be hosted by CHSAA at a predetermined neutral site.

All four championship games are scheduled to be played at the Switchbacks Weider Field in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Nov. 15. The 2A final will be at 9 a.m., followed by the 3A final at noon, the 4A final at 3 p.m. and the 5A final at 6 p.m.
