Flag Football: First Round Games Get Underway

AURORA - The first round of the 2025 Flag Football State Championships got underway Tuesday night with four of the eight first-round matchups completed. The remaining four games will be played tomorrow night. 

In 5A action, No. 20 Chatfield upset No. 13 Poudre School District, 15-14, to move on to the second round where it will face No. 4 Ralston Valley. No. 15 Northglenn also advanced to the second round, using a 21-12 win over No. 18 Columbine to set up a meeting with No. 3 Legend. 

In 4A, No. 13 Golden used an 18-6 win over No. 20 Eagle Ridge Academy to move on to the second-round where it will face No. 4 Green Mountain, while No. 14 Steamboat Springs ran away from No. 19 Regis Groff, 32-6. The Sailors will next face No. 3 Pomona in the second round.

Tomorrow's slate will feature four contests. In 5A, No. 16 ThunderRidge and No. 17 Horizon will face off, while No. 14 Doherty takes on No. 19 Legacy. In 4A, No. 16 Palmer will host No. 17 Dakota Ridge and No. 18 Littleton will travel to No. 15 Ponderosa. 

All eight first-round winners will advance to the second round, which will be played as part of Opening Weekend this Saturday. Opening Weekend will also feature all quarterfinal round games, setting up next Wednesday's semifinal round matchups. The state championship games are set for Saturday, Oct. 25 at Trailblazer Stadium.

All Opening Weekend games for 4A will be at the North Area Athletic Complex Soccer and/or Football Fields, while all 5A games will be played at Jeffco and/or Trailblazer Stadium. See a full Opening Weekend schedule or get your tickets for the games now.
