Day 2 Pairings
COLORADO SPRINGS - Following Monday's first round of the Colorado High School Activities Association's 2024 4A Girls Golf State Championship, at the Country Club of Colorado in Colorado Springs, the Erie Tigers are in a commanding lead among the teams, shooting 15-over 228, and boasting two of the top-three individual golfers.
Erie sisters Logan Hale (4-under 67, first place) and Taylor Hale (8-over 79, tied for third) led the way for the Tigers, while junior Hadley Ashton (11-over 82) also placed inside the top 10, at eighth. No other program has multiple golfers inside the top 10, as of the end of the first round.
Steamboat Springs is second among the teams, with a score of 48-over 261, and it is reperensted in the top 10 by junior Kaitlyn Grommeck, who tied for fifth, at 9-over 80. Grommeck tied with Conifer senior McKenzie Dolph.
Pueblo Central junior Sofia Contreras and Battle Mountain sophomore Makena Thayer were the lone individuals to give the Hale sisters a run for their money. Contreras placed second overall, right behind the eldest Hale, at 4-over 75, while Thayer tied the younger Hale for third place (8-over 79).
Rounding out the top-10 individuals were Ponderosa sophomore Olivia Meyering (10-over 81), who placed seventh, and Lutheran sophomore Chace Atkinson and Littleton sophomore Zoe Bar-Or, who tied for ninth (12-over 83).
The remaining top-five teams were Holy Family (50-over 263, third place), Windsor (59-over 272) and Mullen (66-over 279).
The final round of the two-round championship will be played on Tuesday. The top-two team finishers will earn a trophy with the top-10 individual finishers being rewarded with a medal.
