Boys Soccer: Quarterfinal Round Recap




AURORA – The quarterfinal round of the 2024 Boys Soccer State Championships has been completed, and semifinal games are scheduled to be played Wednesday at various sites.
In 5A, No. 1 seed Northfield defeated No. 8 Ralston Valley 2-0, setting up a semifinal contest with No. 4 Cherry Creek, a 4-0 winner over No. 5 Denver East. The other semifinal will pit No. 3 Broomfield, a 2-1 winner over No. 6 Regis Jesuit, against No. 2 Boulder, a 7-0 winner against No. 23 Fort Collins.
In 4A, No. 1 Mullen beat No. 9 Durango 2-1, and No. 3 Air Academy topped No. 11 Evergreen 1-0 to advance to the semifinals prior to Monday’s remaining games. Mullen will play No. 5 Silver Creek, which defeated No. 4 Centaurus 2-1 on Monday, while Air Academy will face No. 2 Battle Mountain, which advanced after a 2-2 tie against No. 10 Regis Groff by winning 6-5 in penalty kicks on Monday.
Three 3A quarterfinals were played Monday, with only No. 5 Roaring Fork, a 3-2 winner over No. 4 Rifle, having advanced to the semifinals. No. 1 Holy Family shut out No. 8 Kent Denver 3-0 to move into a semifinal matchup with Roaring Fork. The other semifinal pits No. 2 Jefferson Academy, a 5-0 winner over No. 7 Woodland Park, against No. 3 Peak to Peak, which edged KIPP Denver Collegiate 1-0.
In 2A, one semifinal pairs No. 2 Forge Christian, which beat No. 7 Jefferson 2-0, and No. 3 Crested Butte, which edged No. 11 Middle Park 2-1. No. 4 Salida was a 1-0 winner against No. 5 Lotus School for Excellence and will play No. 1 Denver Christian, which was was a 3-0 victor over No. 9 Fountain Valley.
