5A Boys Tennis: Semifinalist Matches Set for Tomorrow

DENVER - The first day of the 5A Boys Tennis Individual State Championships is in the books with tomorrow’s semifinal round matchups set. The semifinal round will begin at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning at Denver Tennis Park, with the first and second round playback matches beginning immediately after. 

The championship finals and third-places matches are scheduled for Saturday. 
 
Through today's action, Regis Jesuit advanced all seven lines to tomorrow's semifinals, while Cherry Creek advanced six and Valor Christian advanced four. Fossil Ridge, Grandview and Pine Creek each advanced two, while Arapahoe, Cherokee Trail, Denver East, Fairview and ThunderRidge advanced one each. 

In No. 1 singles, Regis Jesuit sophomore Alec Rodriguez-Fields will face Valor Christian junior Jace Nakamura in the semifinals, while Pine Creek freshman Braylon Desquitado will take on Denver East senior Trevor Hajek.
  • If Rodriguez-Fields advances, Grandview junior Justin Son will face Mountain Vista senior Sampreet Bheemireddy in the first-round playback.
  • If Nakamura advances, Arapahoe’s Cale Brush will face Arvada West senior Brandon Pivovar.
  • If Desquitado advances, Cherry Creek Charlie Stern and Ralston Valley junior Brady Swartz will play in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Hajek advances, Fossil Ridge senior Tyler VanTassell and Heritage junior Will Moses will meet in the first-round playback.
In No. 2 singles, Regis Jesuit freshman Blake Wright will take on Pine Creek junior Gurman Goraya, while Cherry Creek junior Jack Loehr will face Grandview freshman Kaahan Wani in the semifinal round.
  • If Wright advances, Valor Christian junior Drew Summers and Smoky Hill sophomore Kaelen Szumny will play in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Goraya advances, Mountain Vista sophomore Trey Armstrong and Ponderosa freshman Nathan Spicer will meet in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Loehr advances, Arapahoe sophomore Max Holmes and Fort Collins sophomore Kincade Crow will advance to the first-round playbacks.
  • If Wani advances, Fossil Ridge sophomore Cadell Webb and ThunderRidge senior Sam Allan will play in the first-round playback.
In No. 3 singles, Regis Jesuit freshman Sebastian Wright and Arapahoe senior Carson David will play in the semifinals, while Grandview freshman Krish Wani will face Cherry Creek sophomore Aidan Washer.
  • If Wright advances, Valor Christian sophomore Britt Preston and Smoky Hill Pravinh Jaine will face in the first-round playbacks.
  • If David advances, Fairview senior Charlie Gomulka and Ponderosa senior Max Dyer will advance to the first-round playbacks.
  • If Wani advances, Fossil Ridge sophomore Ian Miller and Northfield sophomore Payne Davidson will meet in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Washer advances, Mountain Vista sophomore Josh Hoefs and Fort Collins senior Porter Gallegos will move on to the first-round playbacks.
In No. 1 doubles, Valor Christian senior Ryan Mandes and senior Ryan Greenfield will meet Fairview senior Ian Schwartz and senior Sam Rich in the semifinals, while Cherry Creek senior Trevor Robinson and senior Luke Norford will face Regis Jesuit junior William (Clay) Dickey and sophomore Vlad Sukhovetskyy.
  • If Valor Christian advances, Fort Collins junior Callaway Orr and senior Bennett Metz will take on Northfield senior Matthew Kwong and senior Parker Bazaz in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Fairview advances, Grandview senior Blake Hardin and junior Carter Benton will take on Boulder junior Patrick Harvey and senior Riley Kenny in playbacks.
  • If Cherry Creek advances, the first-round playback match will be between Fossil Ridge sophomore Davis Samuelson and senior Felipe Sampiao and Denver South senior Nate Posthumus and junior Torin Wright.
  • If Regis Jesuit advances, Castle View senior Drew Schauerhamer and junior Bryan Smith will meet Lakewood senior Sean Lann and freshman Jameson Heltshe in first-round playbacks.
In No. 2 doubles, Regis Jesuit senior KC Eckenhausen and junior Adam Rydel will face ThunderRidge junior Evan Heitman and sophomore Michael Hilliard in the semifinals, while Valor Christian senior Jack Mohler and senior Asa Thurstone will take on Cherry Creek senior Wills Possehl and junior Tyson Hardy.
  • If Regis Jesuit advances, Fairview sophomore Kai Rajpal and junior Chase Harrah will take on Columbine sophomore Brayden Ballard and sophomore Sebastian Lopez in the first-round playbacks.
  • If ThunderRidge advances, Grandview senior Atharv Peroor and freshman Nathan McIsaac will meet Boulder senior Ian Everson and junior Cooper Fagan in the first-round playbacks.  
  • If Valor Christian advances, Ralston Valley junior Noah Martin and sophomore Logan Dozon will face Arvada West senior Sam Bierbrauer and freshman Eli Vander Laan in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Cherry Creek advances, Fossil Ridge junior Keaton Thomas and sophomore Diego Pardina will advance to the first-round playbacks and meet Centaurus senior Wyatt Chapman and junior Finn Moriarity.
In No. 3 doubles, Cherry Creek sophomore Sam Migliaccio and sophomore Devan Shah will face Fossil Ridge junior Vedant Manakeshwar and junior Braxton Phillips, while Valor Christian senior James VanWinkle and freshman Jack Simon will play Regis Jesuit senior Carl Siegel and sophomore Edward Samuelson in the semifinals.
  • If Cherry Creek advances, Mountain Vista senior Sergio Pena and senior Trevor Nelson will advance to the first-round playbacks, where they will take on Rock Canyon senior Isaac Hughes and junior Dylan Wilson.
  • If Fossil Ridge advances, Castle View senior Fiodar Stepanuga and sophomore Collin Townsend and Columbine senior Jace Hansen and junior Tommy Dixon will meet up in the first-round playbacks
  • If Valor Christian advances, Fairview senior Will Stinchcomb and freshman Itay Kazatcker will meet Northfield senior Ben Farnsworth and senior Oliver Guyor in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Regis Jesuit advances, Denver South junior Alex Archer and junior Finn Levine will advance to first-round playbacks and face Golden sophomore Kindell Thompson and freshman William Geswein.
In No. 4 doubles, Cherry Creek senior Mitch Kelly and senior Truman Wooden will meet Cherokee Trail senior Edward Tay and senior Kunj Patel in the semifinals, while Fossil Ridge junior Zach Peterson and senior Zane Webb will face Regis Jesuit senior Aiden Prananta and senior Spencer Buege.
  • If Cherry Creek advances, Mountain Vista sophomore Parker Johnson and freshman Matthew Flitton will take on Arvada West junior Owen Bortscheller and senior Landon Wertz in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Cherokee Trail advances, Chatfield senior Simon Ward and senior Tate Thomas will take on Fairview senior Nimay Ankireddypalli and sophomore Om Vegesna in the first-round playbacks
  • If Fossil Ridge advances, Heritage freshman Hank Harms and senior Zach Kesselman will face Fort Collins junior Miles Kalai and sophomore Casey Stanford in the first-round playbacks.
  • If Regis Jesuit advances, Valor Christian junior Charlie VanAuken and senior Cole Scherer will advance to the first-round playbacks and face Rock Canyon senior Rohan Kotwal and senior Shlok Pradip.
