The Colorado High School Activities Association’s 2024 Ice Hockey State Championships will be played on Tuesday, March 5 at University of Denver’s Magness Arena, in Denver. The 4A championship game will be played at 5 p.m. with the 5A championship following at 7:30 p.m.
What is the schedule for CHSAA's 2024 Ice Hockey State Championship?
- The 4A State Championship final will be played at 5 p.m., followed by the 5A final at 7:30 p.m.
What time will the venue open to the public?
Where can the public park?
- For the state championships at Magness Arena, fan parking will be available in Lots C and L for $10 and Lot 108 for $5.

Do I need to buy a ticket to enter?
- Yes. Tickets will be available for purchase for the State Championship Game, the Frozen Four and the 5A quarterfinals exclusively on GoFan.
How should fans conduct themselves during the event?
- Please only engage in positive cheers.
- Noisemakers are prohibited at the state tournament.
- Fans and students are not allowed on the ice for the championship ceremony
- For the State Championship Games at Magness Arena, spectators are only allowed in the designated bleachers for the entirety of the contests.
What if I can't attend the game, can I still watch it?

- The digital program includes information on past champions, winners and more! Past champions can also be found in the championship archives.
What happens if the game is tied at the end of regulation?
- If the score is tied at the end of regulation, the game will head to overtime. The ice will then be resurfaced, before an eight-minute sudden-victory period.
- If no one scores during that first eight-minute period, a second eight-minute sudden victory overtime period will be played, following a one-minute intermission.
- If the tie remains after the second overtime period, there will be another one-minute intermission, followed by a third eight-minute sudden victory period.
- After the third sudden victory period, if the game remains tied, the teams will receive a full intermission and the ice will be resurfaced. From the fourth overtime period on, the teams will play 4-on-4 eight-minute sudden victory overtime periods, until the tie is broken. The ice will be resurfaced after every set of three overtime periods.
Will there be a trophy presentation?
- The champion teams and runner-up teams in each classification will each receive a trophy at the conclusion of each championship game at center ice.
- Students and fans are not allowed to join their team on the ice during the award ceremony.
Will there be merchandise available to purchase on-site?
