Saturday Results
Top-seeded Delta cruised to a 49-14 win over No. 16 seed Alamosa, but upsets defined the rest of the 2A Football playoff bracket, as No. 2 Kent Denver, No. 5 Elizabeth, No. 7 La Junta and No. 8 Basalt were all eliminated from title contention today.
No. 15 Eaton scored a touchdown in the final minute to escape Kent Denver, 31-28, at DeSorrento Memorial Field in Englewood; No. 12 seed Moffat County defeated Elizabeth, 31-21, at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth; No. 10 Pagosa Springs ground out a 14-7 victory against La Junta; and No. 9 The Classical Academy cruised to a 40-19 victory over Basalt.
The final two games saw No. 6 seed University dispatch No. 11 seed Florence, by a score of 40-15, while No. 3 seed Rifle defeated No. 14 seed Brush, 21-14.
Friday Results
CHSAA's 2A Football Playoffs got kicked off Friday night in Berthoud, as the No. 4 seed Spartans hosted the No. 13 seed Wellington Eagles. Berthoud snagged an early 15-6 lead in the first quarter, and never looked back, ultimately winning the game 38-6. They will play the winner of Saturday's game between No. 5 seed Elizabeth and No. 12 seed Moffat County.
