CHSAA has welcomed Amanda McClure as Director of Communications

AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association has announced the addition of Amanda McClure as Director of Communications.

McClure, who started her role in April to experience the legislative season and spring championships, brings a wealth of experience to the association, as she spent 15 years working in college athletics as a sports information director. In her role with CHSAA, she’ll serve as the primary media liaison, write stories and press releases, curate record books and guide the overall strategic communication plan for the organization.

“We are incredibly blessed as a staff and as an organization to have someone of Amanda’s talents and experience joining the CHSAA family,” said Mike Krueger, CHSAA Commissioner. “Communicating and connecting with our membership and communities across Colorado is something we have identified as a primary strategic priority; Amanda is a gifted leader and we are excited to watch as she takes our communications department to a new and exciting level.”

While McClure comes to CHSAA from Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she was the Communication and Social Media Manager for Student Affairs, she spent most of her career as the Associate Director of Athletic Communications at Loyola University Maryland. There, she ensured all media relations, social media, graphics, website and other publicity needs were met for her assigned sports. She also helped manage media days, post-game interviews, championships and various record books for all 17 sports, among other things for the Greyhounds.

Prior to moving to Baltimore, she spent time at the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. In all three roles, she created talking points for speaking engagements, served as the liaison for in-game talent or TV production crews, and worked with local, state and national media outlets.

“I could not be more excited to be a part of the CHSAA family,” McClure said. “I am grateful to Commissioner Mike Krueger and the leadership at CHSAA for identifying and trusting me to lead their communications efforts. I’ve enjoyed the excitement of the spring season so far and I look forward to exploring all of the various ways that we can tell CHSAA’s story.”

Since moving to Colorado in 2019, McClure has also spent time working with the Gold Crown Foundation.
